A nation’s outrage in print. This broadside, dated June 25, 1807, condemns HMS LEOPARD’s deadly attack on the U.S. frigate CHESAPEAKE just two days earlier. British sailors boarded and fired on the American ship, killing 3 and wounding 18. CHESAPEAKE—like CONSTITUTION—was among the first six frigates authorized in 1794.
