Meet Iris, a rufous hornbill! These birds are native to the rainforests of the Philippines, where they are an endemic species. Rufous hornbills are endangered due to hunting pressure and widespread habitat loss. Iris was part of a breeding program for her species before she experienced an injury that permanently disabled her from mating and raising young.
